Why should you choose Latex self levelling compounds?
Latex self-levelling compound gives you a perfectly smooth, flat surface ready for your final floor finish. It's a flexible, latex-modified compound that we pour over new screeds, concrete or existing floors to fill dips, hollows and joints, leaving a smooth finish ready for vinyl, LVT, carpet, laminate or tiles.
Because it's applied in thin layers, latex typically dries fast. Floors can usually be walked on within a few hours, and your flooring fitter can often get started the next day, depending on the product and site conditions. Its flexibility also makes it a great choice over timber and plywood subfloors, where a rigid compound could crack. Paired with our liquid screeds, it gives you a floor ready for any finish, with no bumps showing through.
When Liquid screed makes more sense
• The depth goes past about 10mm. Most latex compounds are designed for thin layers of roughly 2–10mm. Deep-fill latex products exist, but they get expensive fast. Thin liquid screeds like Cemfloor Level Plus (from 12mm) and Gypsol TS-15 (from 15mm) take over at around that point.
• The floor is well out of level. If a floor dips by 20–30mm or more, latex would mean heavy bag use and several layers. A pumped screed corrects it in one pour.
• It's a large area. Latex is hand-mixed from bags, so labour and material costs climb with every square metre. A pumped screed covers big areas quickly and gets cheaper per m² as the job grows.
• It's going over insulation or a membrane. Latex has to bond directly to a solid base. Liquid screed can be laid unbonded or floating over insulation and membranes.
• You need a structural layer. Latex is only a smoothing finish, while screed forms the floor itself.
