Liquid Screed

Ecoflow, The Liquid Screed specialists in Portsmouth & throughout the UK

A cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative

Why should you choose liquid screed?

Liquid screed is a less expensive and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional labour-intensive sand and cement screeds. It mixes and instals much more quickly, fills gaps and dips better, and creates a smoother overall surface.

Our products are suitable for both residential and commercial applications, are simple to pour, dry quickly, and achieve precise levelling tolerances. It creates flat surface finishes with a pleasing aesthetic that are perfect for resin floors and tiling. Any flooring can be used on top of the screed; it can even be polished for a unique look on any property.

Using liquid screed with Underfloor Heating

All underfloor heating systems (UFHS) work incredibly well with liquid screed because it conducts heat 30% better than conventional screed. When underfloor heating is used, the thermal conductivity increases, which helps to reduce energy costs. In comparison to traditional sand and cement screed, it also has a better environmental impact.

It can be applied in thinner layers, which allows it to dry faster. As a result, floors can be touch-dry and safe for walking on in as little as 24 hours, and they can be completely solidified in as little as two days. In contrast, thickly applied traditional screeds can easily take weeks or even months to fully set!

Looking after your screed

  • During the first 24 to 48 hours of drying, it is essential to protect the material from direct sunlight by covering any windows or doors.

  • Keep the floor clear of heavy furniture and foot traffic for at least a week, and maybe longer for particularly big installations. After 48 hours, it's okay to walk on, but the surface still requires a few more days to fully harden.

  • Depending on the temperature and humidity, drying may take longer in colder, more humid locations. We'll give you our professional opinion on that.

If properly maintained, screed can last for many years without requiring replacement. Ecoflow suggests the following to ensure the most extended life for your flooring system:

  • Occasionally, underfloor heating or a dehumidifier can help speed up drying. We will let you know if any of those options are feasible with your installation.

  • If you wish to polish your screed, we suggest you wait until the floor is completely set and hire an expert professional specialising in concrete floor polishing.
